Hydrea 500mg Capsules
INFORMATION FOR THE PATIENT
What the medication is used for:
HYDREA® is used in combination with radiation to treat cancer of the head and neck, not including the lips. It is also used to treat a type of blood cancer that no longer responds to previous treatments. This type of cancer is called resistant chronic myelocytic leukemia.
What it does:
HYDREA® is a Chemotherapy drug that is indicated for concomitant use with irradiation therapy in the treatment of primary squamous cell (epidermoid) carcinomas of the head and neck, excluding the lip.
When it should not be used:
Do not take HYDREA® if:
- you have problems with your bone marrow (low blood count e.g. severe anemia)
- you are sensitive/allergic to hydroxyurea or any other component of this medication. Tell your doctor if you think you have had an allergic reaction to any of these ingredients.
What the medicinal ingredient is:
Hydroxyurea
What the nonmedicinal ingredients are:
Citric acid, dibasic sodium phosphate, lactose and magnesium stearate
What dosage forms it comes in:
HYDREA® is available in capsules with opaque green cap and opaque pink body printed with “BMS 303″ in black ink on both body and cap. Provided in bottles of 100 capsules
